Celeb-a-like

There's a woman who pops up in my online dating apps every now and then. She's attractive, has a great figure but isn't really doing anything for me. I swipe right every now and then, but nothing's ever come of it. And even if we did match, I'm not sure I'd progress anything. She gives off "high maintenance" vibes and that is sooooo not what I'm looking for.

But today's perusal of social media and up pops attractive comedian Ellie Taylor (you know where this is going, right?) and slap me silly if doesn't look like the online dating woman [in this particular photo]. I think it's the dark eye makeup that's doing it. The online dating woman seems to wear that all the time (at least in all her posted photos).

Ellie Taylor is a fine looking woman.

Blast from the past.

Years ago, when I was an active participant in online dating, I got a message from a woman on OK Cupid. That was unusual. Women, in my experience, never open a conversation or make the first move. It was a "proper" website, too. Not an app. So there was no "match" to indicate a message was incoming.

Anyway, she seemed pretty, had decent curves and great, colourful hair. When I shared her pictures with USHW, she admitted to some hair envy. We messaged for a bit. She seemed fun, had a decent sense of humour but there wasn't that level of attraction that wanted me to take it further. The conversation fizzled out after a couple of days, IIRC.

Another point worth mentioning that is pertinent is that pretty much every bar in my hometown these days has some kind of music act on: guitarists or DJs. And they're loud.

So when one of my favourite bars in Belfast (the one where I had my actual date with Recruitment Bird) posted on Facebook about a new all-female DJ collective, I nearly passed it by. The "music" scene in my hometown is a scourge if all you want to do is meet friends and chat. But one of those women looks familiar. It has been ten years, but is it?

Yes, it is! The girl from OK Cupid with the hair!

Confused.

A few months ago, I pondered on the blog about the attractive blonde woman that I knew from primary school selling a car due to moving to Australia and her subsequent (and ongoing) presence in my online dating feeds.

And today, on Facebook, she pops up again, this time with a link to an estate agent, selling a house. A very nice house, too. Is it hers or is she doing someone a favour?

The ongoing online dating presence doesn't seem to align with a move to Australia, and her online dating presence doesn't give off "casual" vibes either which is the only way I could see emigration tie into online dating.

Green with envy?

With it being the day after Paddy's Day, Facebook is full of memories of past days. It's the women who stand out: Foreign Girl was 11 years ago. She was great fun. 15 years ago there was a near miss with a girl that I regularly saw on Plenty of Fish who ticked a lot of boxes: tall, nice figure, brunette. I didn't talk to her, and I can't remember if I even tried. On the same day, one of RB's friends came out because MF was out. She was cute in a Joanna Garcia Swisher kinda way. And there are pics of KfW2, who inadvertently wore a thin black top that didn't hide her blue bra when the flash went off.

It's been years since I went out for Paddy's Day, but I don't recall there ever being a bad day out. Even the day where it was only KfW2 and I and she was pregnant was a great day out.

*strokes chin*

For the first time in ages, someone I know popped up in one of the online dating applications that I use. This time it was the attractive athletic woman I knew from primary school. I've definitely posted about her before. It was interesting because I thought she was meant to be emigrating to Australia. She had popped up on my Facebook feed in September, selling a car due to a relocation. Maybe it fell through, maybe she was selling/advertising on behalf of someone else. But I think it's fair to say that if she's on online dating apps, that she's not moving to Australia any time soon.

Oh la la!

A super attractive woman popped up on my online dating feed this morning. She was vaguely familiar. I think she might be a friend of QC1's. I'm pretty sure I've seen her before on someone's Facebook feed, and my gut says it's QC1.

She's also giving off Lucrezia Millarini vibes, and that's a very good thing.

 Of course I swiped right.

Oh la la!

For the first time in a long time, a familiar face* appeared on Tinder today. It was Blonde Emma Willis (have I describe her as that on the blog or is that just what I call her to USHW?) I've swiped right, of course, cos she's pretty and I am a sucker for a pretty face. I don't know that we're suited... a gut feeling... but it's been that long since I've had a date that I kinda feel I almost need to swipe on those that I think are cute regardless.

*Familiar, but cute. There are plenty of women I see on Tinder regularly that are not swipeable.

Wasted time.

Even though I don't think I'm in the right frame of mind to consider dating, I still occasionally browse the dating apps. I have current profiles on Tinder, Bumble and Hinge.

It's a habit at this stage, though I don't know what I would do if I ever got a match, that translated to a conversation that translated to a date.

Saying that, the blonde Emma Willis lookalike appeared today plus this (IMO) stunning brunette woman who has short hair and is tall. Like 5'10" (178cm) tall. Wowzer. She also has this kinda, sorta Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays thing going on. That's a look I dig.

Swiping up.

No doubt you'll recognise Chris Hemsworth from this picture. Thor himself.

But Thor is not the reason for posting the picture, it's his wife, Elsa Pataky. She's the spitting image of a woman I've seen this week on the online dating apps, like Tinder. The reason that she's stood out is because she looks like our senior finance officer. Like, as close to the top of the tree that you can get without being The Big Boss.

Well, she's cute too.

But I'm not swiping right.

Six degrees.

Over the years, I've posted about various women who make semi-regular appearances in my Tinder (and other dating apps) feed. There's a woman who pops up irregularly, but she looks pretty and, while I've no evidence to the contrary, tall.

Nothing, obviously, has ever come of my swiping, otherwise you'd know all about it, dear reader. I have also posted about how "small" it is where I live. The "6 degrees" effect. And so if you've read this far, it'll come as no surprise to find out that the attractive blonde woman is a friend of my cousin, as evidenced by a Facebook post that I saw last evening.

Now, it's been some time since I last had the blonde woman popped up on my online dating feeds, but interesting nonetheless.

Hello again.

I don't tend to use a lot of online dating apps outside of Tinder and Bumble. I've not touched the OG apps/sites like Match, OK Cupid, eHarmony etc. in years.

I did, a few weeks ago, sign up for Plenty of Fish for the first time in maybe ten years, but it took me less time to see that it wasn't for me than it did to create the account and the most basic profile.

I do have another one installed, Hinge, and while I've browsed it a few times, I've never made any moves on it. I don't know why. The quality of women on it seems much higher than those I see on Tinder or Bumble.

I was browsing today, semi-bored, while watching the football. Who should pop up on Hinge, but CC's attractive redhead friend. She's not been on the dating apps in ages as far as I can recall. She's still very cute.

Oh la la!

I was in the office today, but bored. So I did a bit of swiping on the online dating apps. A woman appeared... she wasn't really floating my boat until I saw her last picture and I swiped right immediately. The picture? A backless dress shot with a beautifully slinky, clingy long black dress. Stunning. *chef's kiss*

Kinda like this one, though less strappy.

Oh, hello again!

Guess who showed up on Bumble (Tinder-like dating app) earlier? Not Wet Leg girl... sadly nothing there from her past few appearances. No, it's my sister's university friend! This is the first I've seen her on the dating apps in ages. Possibly this year.

I have, of course, swiped right. Though this is an exercise in futility, isn't it? I've swiped right on her every time I've seen her with no positive outcome.

A man can hope though, right?

Disclaimer: I've no idea what I would do if we actually matched. I've mentioned before that I am private. The fact that I'd be on a date with someone that I share mutual friends could be weird to me. RB did admit during one of our evenings that she knew MF and GWTNA, though that didn't put me off. MF and GWTNA weren't close friends though. Would it be different if it was family? A close friend?

Tuesday, June 04, 2024

Oh?

Guess who popped up on Tinder today? Yup, Wet Leg girl. Swiped right, of course, though with no expectation that it'll turn into anything. This is one of the frustrations of online dating applications.

No swipey, no likey.

Did you know you can run out of "likes" on Tinder? I didn't, and bear in mind that I've been an on/off tinder user for about ten years, if not a little longer. However, I had some downtime in the office today due to a laptop issue, I was still feeling horny due to last night's dream and off I went to swipe.

For some reason that I couldn't understand, tinder thought I was in a city in the American Midwest and was showing me women from that area, so I spent a pleasurable while swiping. And because most of these women were new to me, a lot of the swipes I was giving out were positive ones. There really were a lot of cute women in my age range out there looking to date. (Sadly, like my local women, their profiles were non-existent or just awful).

But it wasn't too long before I could swipe right no more and Tinder was asking me for money for "unlimited likes". Yeah, but no.

Look and likey.

So, as a big-ish coincidence, guess who popped up in my Tinder feed today? No? Well, given recent posts on Tinder non-matches, it was the Wet Leg lookalike. Of course I swiped right, though I am pessimistic because we've never matched in many years of crossing paths on the online dating applications. Fingers crossed, though.

Lookalike, again.

Back in the day when I was in regular contact/conversation with USHW, I would share any potential women of interest that I saw on the online dating apps, like Tinder, for example. I might even grab a picture and send them to USHW too.

One of the women, that captured my interest and would pop into my feed every now and again was an attractive and interesting looking blonde woman. I swipe right every time I see her, though we've never matched, sadly.

I was browsing the web last night and came across an article on the band Wet Leg. They're excellent, by the way. But the thing that stood out for me was the resemblance between Wet Leg member Hester Chambers and the girl from the online dating apps.

I've not seen the blonde woman on the online dating apps in ages... probably well over a year, sadly.

Sunday, February 18, 2024

Ooooh.

I can't remember if I knew this before, but I have mutual friends with the blonde Emma Willis woman who pops up infrequently in my online dating applications. I got a weird sense of deja vu when I found that out last night. I can't remember if I ever posted about it.

Actually, I should expand on that. I have two mutual friends with blonde Emma Willis, both school friends. One is a woman that I know I've posted about before. The other is a guy that I've only ever seen infrequently since we left school.

Not an "in" or anything. More a comment on the coincidence.

Blast from the Past.

Years ago, when I was more heavily into online dating and in regular contact with USHW, I would send pictures of people I thought were attractive. As I've said in other posts, a lot of women would appear regularly. One of them was very pretty and always gave off this effortlessly sexy vibe. While I always swiped right, we never actually matched, which was disappointing.

The reason for bringing this up was that, in cleaning up my hard drive for the upcoming new PC, I found a folder of these images, including this sexy woman. But the reason I'm making this post is that she gives off a very Anna Kendrick vibe. Much more so than CAB, who I usually draw comparisons with - she's naturally slim, same kind of figure as Anna Kendrick, same shape of face etc.

D'oh.

I dipped my toe back into online dating last night. I guess the single thing from the weekend was still playing on my mind a little. It's the first time in a while that I've browsed with intent. A familiar face popped up. A woman who I've seen before. However, my memory being what it is, I didn't think she was local. I'd assumed it was someone I'd seen when I was Tindering on a trip to the States quite a few years ago.

Certainly, for me, the photos gave off a very American vibe, including her name. However, that's not the story I want to tell. The woman is gorgeous. She has a great set of legs, if we want to get into the physical side of things. Legs are not things I tend to notice. I only call it out because I'm pretty sure that the woman in question likes her legs. Her Tinder photos are very leggy.

So, yeah. I want to swipe right and see where things go. Did I swipe right before? I can't remember. The last time I saw this woman was years ago.

I fat-fingered it and managed to swipe left. D'oh.

What?

A bit of a weird dream last night. It featured KfW2 quite significantly. In the dream, she kept inviting me to social and work events but wo...
