The boring life of me.

There's not a lot to report... things have been super quiet recently barring one night out with work and a day spent with DSC just having a general catch-up. There are bigger plans for the next month or so, but until then, it's keeping my head down and trying to motivate myself into looking at new jobs and going to the gym.

LOL.

It happens all the time. I was fully expecting M to take me along to a friend's birthday last night where I'd bump into E3 again and I'd be able to see where the land lies. Apart from my own confessions to G and FP, no-one has said anything about that night, so I'm wondering if anyone else saw it, or if E3 even remembers it herself. Maybe I'm simply over-analysing the entire thing (if you read this blog semi-regularly then you'll realise that I do this a lot), but I don't think it's a small deal that a friend of over twenty years suddenly comes on to you on a night out.

However, that all fell by the wayside when the birthday girl started feeling unwell and their entire night came to an abrupt halt just as mine was getting started and any chance I had of bumping into E3 ended. That's what you get for making assumptions. Maybe I should have left the house a mess and that wouldn't have tempted fate! Or maybe I shouldn't have made huge assumptions?

An interesting Saturday night ahead.

Earlier this week I suggested heading out for a few pints to M. He suggested Saturday, which is unusual for him - we tend to head out on a Friday night. However, Facebook is now telling me that and old school acquaintance of ours is 40 tomorrow, so I'm beginning to think that he'll want us to show up to that. Things will then get interesting for two main reasons - the main one is that I really don't like this girl. I think she's a selfish bully, but the second is that her best friend is E3 and she will definitely be out and she will be drunk.

That'll be interesting. I may even tidy the flat and get in some supplies, thus guaranteeing that nothing will happen.

Getting off my fat ass?

I downloaded a fitness and nutrition program off the internet yesterday - partly recommended by the girl off the dating website that I was chatting to a few weeks ago. It's meant to be really intensive, but you should see results quickly and the entire program is done over 60 days (well, really 7 weeks, if you're being pedantic). There's a lot of information to digest, but I'm going to take a look at it tonight and see how feasible it is - theoretically, you can do the entire workout in your own home - so I want to assess the difficulty and expense of doing it and then decide if I am going to launch myself into it.

More talk.

I had a very brief conversation with FP yesterday about E3. He was at first sceptical that this even happened (E3 is generally regarded as a very pretty woman in our male social circle) and then scoffed that it was a one-off and it would never happen again.

He could be right, I guess, but that's something that remains to be seen.

Blasts from the past.

Completely out of the blue, I've started seeing Pretty Blonde around again. I don't know if she's back working at the same company as me (she was and then left a few years ago) or if she just happens to be working nearby when I see her at lunchtimes (this is unlikely). Sadly, though, she appears to be married now, but is still very cute.

Also, I saw that Mutual Friend was out with RB and had posted a few photos on Facebook. I commented on one of them (directed at MF, not RB), but it has subsequently disappeared. RB was definitely a bit flaky and concerned about privacy too, so I've no doubt that she asked for the photo to be removed (or marked as private).

Interesting. I hope that she asked for the photo to be removed because of her privacy concerns rather than anything to do with me, but that's where the flaky part of it would come in.

Reflection.

I've had time to digest the events of last week's party and E3. While there was a large element of shock involved at the time, the idea of dating E3 is something I've definitely not ruled out, despite some rather grand proclamations with G to the contrary during midweek.

I don't think it has any legs, to be perfectly frank, but if things were to happen again, I don't think I would be as quick to pour her into a taxi, if you catch my drift. The suspicious part of me is detecting some match-making going on, possibly because of M and MM which would be disappointing given that I recently stated a liking for MMBF, but I'm probably just over-analysing things as usual.

I'm spending the day with FP tomorrow on a road trip of sorts. I'll see what his input might be, but I can imagine he'll just advise that I should go with the flow.

Of course, this could all be a moot point and it might have all been down to E3 being a bit drunk, but I guess I'm not going to find out without meeting E3 again or at least having a chat with M.

Talk is cheap... actually, no it's not.

I finally managed to get G out for a chat over a few drinks last night and we talked through the E3 thing. No-one saw what happened with E3 and myself on Friday night (or if they have, no-one's saying anything), which probably explains why there were no probing texts or Facebook messages looking for more information or trying to smooth things along. I'm still gutted that I was pretty much warned off MMBF though.

So the upshot of our chat last night is that G thinks I did the right thing in packing E3 into a taxi with her pals. But he thinks I'm a loon for not being attracted to her (but she is a very pretty girl, I won't deny that). I've also shared the E3 story with KfW2 and DSC, who have both been absolutely useless in offering advice, but were glad of the story. DSC is, I think, hoping this turns into something, but she's too stubborn to admit that she cares.

A side effect of talking to G is that he's offered me his house for a week in August as the family head off to France for a week. A free house in London? I could definitely put that to good use, meeting up with a few people I know in and around there. I must mull it over and see what plans I can make.

Need to talk.

I've been trying to talk to a few people yesterday and today - specifically FP, G and DSC - about the E3 thing (and maybe even branch out to the MMBF thing too). These are the people I feel I can talk to about stuff (and KfW2 falls into that category too) but none of them were available. Well, DSC probably was, but she's in a selfish kind of mood at the moment with her own issues and doesn't seem to be completely happy right now. I've barely had any contact off her over the past three weeks or so and even our planned lunch "date" for this time last week was cancelled because she "just wasn't feeling it".

Anyway, I'm hoping that G will be in contact this evening and suggest a few pints. I made this suggestion yesterday but he's only home for a few days and needed to get some family time in.

Making progress?

Hmmm... interesting things are afoot. Last night was M's belated birthday party. Lots of friends from all over the UK came over for it and it was good to catch up with a group of friends from school.

I was chatting briefly to MMBF who looked stunning in a figure-hugging dress, but didn't get to say a lot and wasn't able to capitalise on QC2 being a mutual friend or lay any groundwork for something more. I did let slip to MM at the end of the night that I was interested in her, but the response I got wasn't positive. I got the impression that she's very high maintenance and probably hard work. Shame that. I might try and get a confirmation from M if we're out again soon. I think we might be - G is home too for nearly a week, so I'd be very surprised if we weren't out at least once in the next week.

However, the real news of the night was that one of our circle of friends (E3) made a move on me. I used to be attracted to her at school (and don't get me wrong, she is still a very good-looking girl), but now, she's just a friend, or so I thought. We swapped a few lingering kisses - not full-on snogs, but not just quick kisses either. I packed her into a taxi to go home and I walked off home. I feel like I made the right decision, though doubts are starting to creep in. If she'd been someone I'd only met last night, I might have tried to get her back to mine. In fact, had we been alone and not surrounded by friends, I might have tried to take it further, or at least suggest meeting later in the week.

I'm jumping the gun I suppose. It's entirely possible that she only wanted something for last night. I'm not entirely sure how drunk she was or what her goal was, but I played the safe option and packed her off.

Oh, and as an aside, I haven't managed to talk to DSC about the dating site girl, but I've not replied to her last text which was sent on Tuesday. She's not made any contact herself, so it looks like that one's dead in the water. I wish she'd made that clear a lot earlier instead of me having to figure it out. She's a woman in her forties - she should be beyond this kind of game-playing.

Decisions, decisions.

I've been caught in two minds all day about whether or not to go back on my initial decision of not contacting the dating site woman. I have the perfect excuse for lying low for a few days, but I also noticed this on her profile: "...woman who loves life, values honesty, time and people" and "I value my time and the people I love even more", so I started second guessing myself about whether she really was a time waster. I had hoped to pick DSC's brains about this, but she's been noticeably absent from the internet over the past few weeks and this requires a proper chat, not a few swapped text messages. She still doesn't know that I reactivated my account at the start of the year, so maybe I should start with that and go from there... or maybe I should go with my initial gut feeling and not bother even consider talking to this woman again unless she makes contact.

Going b(l)ack.

After yesterday's posts about QC2 and CAB in Levi's, I've gone head and ordered myself a pair off Vinted. A black pair. Reliving...
